Our Story: From Nsoatre Women’s Training Institute to a Centre of TVET Excellence
Founding
Nsoatre Technical Institute traces its origin to the Nsoatre Women’s Training Institute (WTI), established in 2000 by the Department of Community Development to provide employable skills training for the youth — especially young women — of the Bono Region.

Over the years, the Institute expanded its programmes and admission opportunities to include both males and females. In 2010, it evolved into the Community Development Vocational Institute (CDVI), opening enrolment to male students for the first time.
Growth
In 2012, it became the Community Development Vocational and Technical Institute (CDVTI), introducing more male-dominated technical programmes. Today, as Nsoatre Technical Institute under the Ghana TVET Service, the Institute has grown into one of the leading TVET institutions in the Bono Region, providing competency-based training across nine technical and vocational fields.
Today
Through 25 years of transformation — from a women’s skills centre to a full, co-educational Category B technical institute — Nsoatre Technical Institute has stayed true to its founding purpose: equipping young people, regardless of gender, with practical skills, entrepreneurial abilities, and employable competencies for national development. Through its participation in the VIS Ghana SEE Project, supported by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the Institute now begins its next chapter — a first institutional website, renewed ICT equipment, and stronger digital communication for the community it serves.

Governance
Nsoatre Technical Institute is a public, Category B technical institute operating under the Ghana TVET Service of the Ministry of Education. The Institute is administered by the Principal, supported by the ICT Head of Department, the JSO/Liaison Officer, and a body of 27 teaching staff and 16 administrative staff, with 4 dedicated ICT staff.
The Institute already maintains a lab-level policy governing student ICT access, and runs some of the strongest operational safety and cybersecurity practices seen across the SEE Project schools — a solid foundation for developing formal institution-wide governance documentation.
